Civil Crew Lead
Position Description:
The Civil Crew Team Lead directs and manages all on-site workers, subcontractors and equipment during Tank Sets and construction projects; mainly pre-installation. The lead enforces the company’s policies and safety standards, while meeting construction deadlines. The Civil Crew Team Lead operates heavy equipment, drives company vehicles, performs work in confined spaces, works at heights, conducts abrasive blasting, and works in environments containing dust and fumes which require use of personal protective equipment. This is a safety-sensitive position.
Supervisory Responsibility
No direct reports. This position directs a work team of 1 to 4 personnel, including additional civil construction workers, propane installers, painters, and any others assigned to job/project work team.
- On-site Leadership of team.
- Delegate tasks and accountabilities, instruct, supervise, lead and direct crew.
- Liaison between the company and employees on a variety of employee-related matters.
- Participates in providing detailed input for employee annual reviews.
- Other Employee Supervision duties as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Civil Crew Lead include, but are not limited to:
- Lead and direct people, equipment and resources in the construction and installation of bulk propane plant storage systems and related components.
- Engage in open communication with the Director of Field Operations and report any issues which could affect the project plan.
- Work as a team member and leader to carry out project requirements.
- Organize and coordinate the daily activities of all crew members, subcontractors, equipment and utilize corrective action to keep the project on time and on budget. Plan work in an efficient and effective order, maximizing progress in a safe and timely manner.
- Control project expenses and staying within budget. Identify and execute best practices concerning the efficient use of all materials.
- Review and adhere to construction schedules, ensuring milestones and completion dates are met.
- Order components for project and verify receipts.
- Verify all parts and/or equipment are on hand for project.
- Safeguard company equipment by overseeing its use, maintenance, and lawful operation.
- Read and interpret project plans and specifications.
- Carry out thorough completion and submission to company office of all required project documentation including time sheets, work orders, change orders, pressure testing, etc. as required.
- Operate heavy equipment and other construction duties as necessary.
- Understand and comply with the principles of the company’s Code of Ethics.
Travel:
Travel is required.
Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- Able to read schematics and detailed site drawings.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- The ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Good mechanical aptitude.
- Basic Propane knowledge of CETP (Certified Employee Training Program) a plus but not required.
Preferred Education and Experience
Technical Degree or Diploma in from an accredited institution or equivalent.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- Ability to lift loads up to 75lbs, traverse construction sites, climb stairs and ladders, and enter confined spaces.
- Ability to work in the elements and in environments containing:
- Chemical Factors: Dust, Fumes.
- Physical Factors: Attention to safety; High Voltage and Ionizing Radiation;
- Personal Protection Equipment: Eye/face, Foot, Hand, Hearing Protection and Respirators if required.
