Service Technician
Position Description:
Reporting to the Service Team leader, the Propane Service Technician is responsible for the maintenance, diagnosis and repair of many types of tanks and supply systems at our customers’ locations. This front-line field position provides a high level of customer satisfaction and safety. Additionally, the role may assist with tank setting and removal, transportation functions and bulk plant maintenance. This is a safety-sensitive position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Service Technician include, but are not limited to:
- Troubleshoots, services, repairs and maintains many varieties of large propane systems.
- Assists other technicians and/or other employees as needed
- Resolves customer concerns or complaints in a professional and helpful manner and provides customers with solutions to safety-related needs
- Ensures the safe use of company service vehicles. Utilizes company equipment safely and properly
- Understands, follows and advocates company policies and local, state and federal rules, regulations, and codes pertaining to the safe installation and service of propane equipment
- Performs inspections and testing of bulk propane systems.
- Completes required paperwork and documentation in a professional and legible manner
- Represents the company professionally and respectfully in all interactions with customers and with the general public
- Ensures the appearance and condition of company vehicles, equipment, tools, and other assets are safe, clean and maintained
- Attends and participates in company training programs
- Involved in special projects from time to time, depending on business need. Responsible for any other tasks and duties as assigned, which may or may not relate to service.
Travel Required:
There is regional travel required for this job. Service Techs will be assigned specific territories and support the development of our customer base within these territories. It is expected that there will be overnight travel on regular occasions, depending on customer location and the work that is being performed.
Preferred Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- Technical Degree or Diploma from an accredited institution or Trade School.
- Strong Mechanical and Technical aptitude.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- The ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Basic Propane knowledge of CETP (Certified Employee Training Program) a plus but not required.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- Ability to lift loads up to 75lbs, traverse construction sites, climb stairs and ladders, and enter confined spaces.
- Ability to work in the elements and in environments containing:
- Chemical Factors: Dust, Fumes.
- Physical Factors: Attention to safety; High Voltage and Ionizing Radiation;
- Personal Protection Equipment: Eye/face, Foot, Hand, Hearing Protection and Respirators if required.
